Celebrate the proud heritage of the Corps of the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (REME) with this officially licensed Queen's Crown Full Colour Cap Badge Display Frame.

Formed on 1 October 1942, following recommendations made by a Cabinet committee chaired by Sir William Beveridge, the Corps of the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers was established to rationalise and improve the efficiency of the British Army's repair organisation during the Second World War. Specialist trades from several existing Corps were brought together into a dedicated engineering organisation, with further responsibilities transferred during subsequent phases of post-war reorganisation, firmly establishing REME as the British Army's specialist engineering Corps.

Since its formation, REME personnel have provided indispensable engineering support wherever the British Army has served. From the battlefields of the Second World War to modern operations around the world, the Corps has maintained, repaired, recovered and modified the vehicles, weapons, aircraft, communications systems and electronic equipment upon which the Army depends. Today, REME continues to deliver world-class engineering expertise across the British Army, ensuring military equipment remains operational whenever and wherever it is required.

This display features a precision high-definition 3D-printed reproduction of the REME Queen's Crown cap badge against a professionally pigment-printed Corps backing. The badge and backing are carefully hand mounted, with each finished display individually assembled in Leicestershire.

All orders are processed within 5 to 7 business days (excluding weekends and holidays) after receiving your order confirmation email. You will receive another notification when your order has shipped.

You can skip the shipping fees with free local pickup if you are in Plymouth, Devon. Please select collect from shop at checkout.

How do I check the status of my order?

When your order has shipped, you will receive an email notification from me which will include a tracking number (if over 2kg) you can use to check its status. Please allow 48 hours for the tracking information to become available. 

If you haven’t received your order within 7 days of receiving your shipping confirmation email, please contact me at info@thecraftyblackdog.co.uk with your name and order number, and I will investigate it for you.

Returns Policy

If you’re looking to return or exchange your order for whatever reason, I am here to help! Returns are to be made within 30 days of purchase. You can return your product for store credit, a different product, or a refund to the original payment method.

I accept returns up to 30 days after delivery, (excluding clothing)  if the item is unused and in its original condition, I will refund the full order amount. The cost of the return is to be made by the customer.

If your order arrives damaged in any way, please email me as soon as possible at info@thecraftyblackdog.co.uk with your order number and a photo of the item’s condition. I address these on a case-by-case basis but will try my best to work towards a satisfactory solution.

To initiate a return, please complete the following steps:

  1. Reply to your order confirmation email to request which products you would like to return.
  2. Ensure the item is in the original packaging and please return to:

Additional Information:

  • If you have asked for a refund, this will be initiated within 2 working days of the item being received.
  • The customer will pay for all returns less damaged items.
  • There are no restocking fees.
  • Please report any missing items 3 days after the expected delivery date. I will then raise the issue with the carrier and keep you updated with any response. In the instance of a loss, once confirmed lost by the carrier I will send a replacement free of charge. I can not do this until the carrier confirms the loss of the item(s).

My Battle with the Black Dog...

TheCraftyBlackdog has been created from my own battle with the Black Dog - a term most commonly used to describe a state of depression.

This was something I had unknowingly been battling for over 20 years following my time in the military. It wasn’t until I became a mother and I could no longer do the things I used to do, to escape, that things started to unravel and I had to ask for help, that was the hardest thing I’ve ever had to do, making that admission.

I first became interested in arts and crafts in 2019 whilst at a place called ‘Combat Stress’ in Surrey, this is where Military Veterans like myself can go and get help for Mental Health matters. Whilst there I discovered Art Therapy (I hated art at school!) and a love for making things in the OT room. I started by making Remembrance Day related crafts and this quickly moved onto Military Insignia.

The Black Dog has stolen the mass of confidence I used to have, so I am hoping this adventure will help me to connect with people again and inspire those of you out there also having your own battle, it is one that may never be won, but it certainly can be helped.
