Product Description

Official MOD-Licensed Military Display Piece

Celebrate the proud heritage of the Royal Tank Regiment (RTR) with this officially licensed Queen's Crown Cap Badge Display Frame in a striking Silver & Black finish.

The Royal Tank Regiment traces its origins to the Heavy Branch of the Machine Gun Corps, established in 1916 to operate the newly developed tank during the First World War. Following its success on the Western Front, it became the Tank Corps in July 1917 before being granted the title Royal Tank Corps by King George V in 1923. In 1939, it adopted its present name, the Royal Tank Regiment. The Regiment is recognised as the oldest tank unit in the world.

Since the first use of tanks in battle at Flers-Courcelette on 15 September 1916, the Royal Tank Regiment has remained at the forefront of armoured warfare. Its soldiers have served with distinction throughout the First and Second World Wars, Korea, the Gulf War, Iraq and Afghanistan. Today, the Regiment continues to serve within the Royal Armoured Corps, proudly upholding its famous motto, Fear Naught.

This display features a precision 3D printed reproduction of the Queen's Crown Royal Tank Regiment cap badge in its Silver & Black finish, presented within a premium deep box frame against a professionally pigment-printed regimental backing. The badge and backing are carefully hand mounted, with each finished display individually assembled in Leicestershire. The Queen's Crown version uses the St Edward's Crown pattern associated with the reign of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

About the Badge

The present Royal Tank Regiment badge design centres on a tank encircled by a laurel wreath and surmounted by the Crown. The Regiment's own history records that, apart from minor later modifications to the tank and crown, this badge dates from 1923, when the Royal Tank Corps title, the black beret, the unit badge and the motto Fear Naught were adopted.

This version is surmounted by the Queen's Crown (St Edward's Crown pattern), associated with the reign of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

My Battle with the Black Dog...

TheCraftyBlackdog has been created from my own battle with the Black Dog - a term most commonly used to describe a state of depression.

This was something I had unknowingly been battling for over 20 years following my time in the military. It wasn’t until I became a mother and I could no longer do the things I used to do, to escape, that things started to unravel and I had to ask for help, that was the hardest thing I’ve ever had to do, making that admission.

I first became interested in arts and crafts in 2019 whilst at a place called ‘Combat Stress’ in Surrey, this is where Military Veterans like myself can go and get help for Mental Health matters. Whilst there I discovered Art Therapy (I hated art at school!) and a love for making things in the OT room. I started by making Remembrance Day related crafts and this quickly moved onto Military Insignia.

The Black Dog has stolen the mass of confidence I used to have, so I am hoping this adventure will help me to connect with people again and inspire those of you out there also having your own battle, it is one that may never be won, but it certainly can be helped.
